It’s Never Too Late To Get Rid Of Unhealthy Habits
Taking these little steps each day will help you achieve a happier and healthier life.
Eliminate soda from your diet. Soda is a very addictive habit and stopping can be just as hard as quitting smoking. Easing into it is best, so let’s say if you drink 5 sodas a day, go down to 4 a day, then 3 a day until you go to zero. When you crave it, instead have a big glass of naturally fruit flavored water.
Are you getting enough sleep? Sleep is essential, otherwise your immune system will be compromised, you’re more likely to consume more calories each day and less likely to exercise. An hour before bed try to relax, read and turn off all electronics.
Don’t count calories. As crazy as this sounds, it’s a mental thing. You’re more likely to binge when you are on a highly restrictive diet that is too focused on calorie counting. Try eating in a way you know is healthy by focusing on eating more protein and green and colorful vegetable, whole, real foods, eliminating processed and packaged foods completely. Whatever you do, don’t be too hard on yourself if you veer from this once in a while!
Are you drinking enough water? Water is essential for amazing health and most people don’t drink nearly enough. Set a goal to start drinking half of your body weight in ounces each day with the goal to increase this slowly to drinking your entire body weight in ounces each day (more if you exercise). Try drinking 4-8 ounces per hour. At the end of the day this will be 64-128 ounces. Slowly increase this weekly until you reach the optimal amount for you. You’ll be amazed at the results….water cleanses your body, increases the function of your cells and organs, makes you feel more energized and you’ll probably even drop some pounds!
Are you a little bit of a couch potato? It’s easy to do. We all get into these great regular work-out routines and then for some unknown reason we just stop! Unfortunately with that comes all the other bad habits. It seems that when we exercise regularly we find it easier to stick to a healthier lifestyle. We just need to get back at it, even if that just means a walk around the block, 1 mile on the treadmill, or 15 minutes on your bike. Do it daily, and then before you know it you’ll feel like doing the much bigger work-outs. The list of positive results from regular exercise is a long one. We all know intuitively how good it is for us, but one of best outcomes is it relieves stress and detoxes your brain of any negativity.
Pick one thing off of this list each week until you’re doing them all and see how good you feel!
